The Miniature Herefords being bred today are the same genetic background as the large size Herefords however a family in Texas decided to get the breed back to basic's and a more profitable cow size. The Miniature Herefords are classified into two catergories: the Miniature size, that is 42" and under and the Classic which would be over 42". Down sizing the Herefords is not a new concept it is more so the concept of reverting back to the original intent of the cattle. With the drought situation in Colorado it only makes sense to decrease the wear and tear on pastures, these little guys are much easier on pasture and the stocking rate is almost double what the typical cow needs. They can be raised as a commercial operation for seed stock, for freezer meat,4H or FFA projects or just for a pet. The docile nature of the Miniature Herefords is incredible. If your a small acreage person and are looking for a method of retaining your agricultural status here is your answer. We will have whatever your desire might be and be able to assist you in your new venture.
